How to Apply
History of the Competition
The Competition was established for the purpose of supporting singers from the National Capital Region focusing on a performance career.
The first competition was held in 1993 and was named after Brian Law Opera in honour of his contributions to classical music. Brian lived in Ottawa from 1965 to 1991.
In 2023, eligibility for the competition was opened to all Canadians and the competition was renamed the National Capital Opera Competition.
